Keonjhar: A court in Keonjhar has sentenced Satrughna Naik to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 for the murder of his nephew, Kamalakant Naik, which took place in May 2022.
The tragic event unfolded in Talapada village when Kamalakant returned home and began verbally abusing his wife. This prompted Satrughna to step in and address the situation.
What started as a verbal dispute escalated quickly, resulting in Satrughna striking Kamalakant with a stick, rendering him unconscious.
Unfortunately, due to the absence of transportation, Kamalakant could not receive immediate medical attention and succumbed to his injuries the following morning.
Following a complaint lodged by Kamalakant’s wife, law enforcement initiated an investigation that ultimately led to Satrughna's conviction.
